| Bio: | I guess I should add a little something here. My name is Kristen, and I was born and raised in Missouri. I graduated with honors from the University of Missouri-Rolla in May 2007 with my bachelors degree in Business and Management Systems and a minor in Financial Economics. I have since relocated to South Carolina to attend Clemson University for my Masters in Real Estate Development.
Now, before you get all envinronmentalist on me, I am not out to destroy the land. On the contrary. My interests actually lie in helping the environment. I would like to build sustainable communities and also work with infill projects. I see no reason to be building new homes and subdivisions where there are so many abandoned houses and buildings in the cities.
I got married on March 16th, 2008. It was truly wonderful and we had a wonderful honeymoon in Mexico. Even though we already felt married for the last two years, sealing the deal was great. I couldn't be any happier and I am so lucky to have a great guy like James.
Other interesting facts about me:
* I genuinely care about people. Not just those I know, but also those I don't. If I do know you, then you probably have a special place in my heart. I am a softie for kids, though I have none of my own.
* My family and loved ones (including my fiance', James) is my world. I value nothing over them. My dad passed away when I was just 4 years old, and my mom has done everything she can to help. I have a sister named Denice in her 30's and a brother named William who is 13 (my mom spaced us far apart). I also have two nieces, Samantha who is 15 and born on my birthday, and Megan who is 10. I also have an adorable nephew, Tyler, who is 4. These kids are my wole world.
* I adore animals. All kinds. Everything from dogs and cats to snakes and alligators. I have a cat that I treat as my baby. She is the world to me. It is probably unhealthy how much I cherish her :)
* I am open minded. I don't judge others by anything superficial such as race, religion, sexual orientation or anything you can think of.
* I am obsessed with purple. If I had my way, I would buy everything in purple :)
*I love keeping updated on the news. I love to know what is going on in the world, and seriously care about what is going on. I am concerned with the levels of poverty and hate in this world, and hope one day we can get past that.
* I come from a poor family. Everything I have, I had to work for myself. Nothing is ever given to me. I moved out when I was 18 and have been independent since. My mom may still have to help my older sister, but I am completely on my own (for better or for worse). People say poor kids can't go to college, well that is not true. I graduate college and in a somewhat elite graduate program. Just proves that hard work and determination can pay off. I look to be making a pretty decent salary when I graduate, I am getting out of the poor rut my family is in and plan on helping them out as much as I can.
Anything else you want to know? Just ask me. I love to talk and tend to write long entries and go on and on about things, just my nautre. I am generally a happy person, but we all get down sometimes. I am homesick, and miss everyone so much. I currently live 14 hours from my family and fiance', so that is incredibly hard. Not to mention the drama that is going on back home...anyways, this is long enough. If you want to hear more, add me :) My journal is mostly friends only beyond a certain point.
